Inspired by the June Vacation Bible School topic of “Jesus With Us in the Busy City,” the Sunday Adult Bible class (9:30-10:30am) will study what the Bible has to say about cities and what it means for First Lutheran, a church in the heart of a busy city. From Sodom and Gomorrah, to Babylon, to Jerusalem and finally to Zion, the heavenly Jerusalem, the Bible has a lot to say about cities and to those living in them.
Audrey Johnson will lead this study during three of the Vacation Bible School Sundays in June – the 14th, 21st, and 28th. In the meantime, please join us as Tom McCain concludes our study of the book of Ezra on May 30, and for a guest speaker on June 7.
On June 7, we will be hosting Ian Christie-Miller from the UK for a presentation on the “1547 Lutheran Catechismusa,” a project funded by the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. The Catechismus, Luther’s Small Catechism in Lithuanian, is the first printed Lithuanian book and there are only two known copies. Join us for a little piece of early church, and European publishing, history.
