Last weekend, the members of Boston Light of the World, our blind ministry, decided that their monthly fellowship meal should be a field trip. Instead of meeting at church, they went to visit their friend Ron, a FLC member with vision impairment who is recovering from knee surgery at Atria Marina Place in Quincy. Armed with pizza (thanks to Blake and Andy) and music (thanks to Rosie), they took the party to Ron when he couldn’t make it to their usual meeting in the church undercroft.
The presence of the BLW crowd of fifteen (both blind and sighted) and Rosie’s outstanding classical piano playing attracted a standing room only crowd from the assisted living community, who wanted to know more about Rosie, about BLW, and about First Lutheran Church. There were hopes that BLW might be able to come again, and everyone, including Ron, had a great time. Thanks to everyone who made this special event happen!
