Vacation Bible School is coming

Children ages three to grade 5 are invited to join us for Vacation Bible School the first four Sundays in June from 9:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at First Lutheran Church of Boston. This year’s theme is THE KING SHALL COME! A Mighty Fortress, where the church will be transformed into a castle.

We’ll have bible stories, music, games, crafts and snacks that transport us to a medieval world. Meet the knight who awaits the King’s return. Learn God’s promises for you!

I am interested in finding out where you got these materials. You look like a Confessional LCMS. Did this come from CPH?

I went to check your website since my grandson’s recorder teacher played for your Vesper Service this evening. I am excited about hearing this since she is Jewish and would love her to become a Complete Jew. At times she has asked me about our hymns and also wanted to know what our Rite of Confirmation is. She asked this when Daniel was confirmed.

    Thanks,

    Donna Menche

Thanks for the comments Donna. This year’s VBS was not purchased from Concordia Publishing House but was a homegrown product by First Lutheran’s volunteers. Theologically, it is an attempt to break the idea of Law and Gospel into child-sized bites, while including all the fun and excitement of Vacation Bible School.

The companion adult study on Law and Gospel leans on some Concordia Publishing House materials and some Concordia Seminary video lectures but is largely homegrown as well. Here’s more info on that class.

Our usual Sunday School materials are the CPH Growing in Christ curriculum and we have also used CPH VBS materials for many past year. They are the best out there, hands down, and truly Christ-centered.

I am sure Pastor Dutzmann can fill you in on some of the confirmation opportunities available to people of widely varying backgrounds. Look for another response shortly and thanks again for your note!
