In April the voters of First Lutheran Church of Boston voted unanimously to call Pastor James Hopkins to the pastoral office at our church. On May 5, President Lisa Stiller read Pastor Hopkins’ letter of acceptance, published below, to the congregation. It is with joy that we prepare to welcome Pastor Hopkins as the new undershepherd of Christ in our midst!
Dear Members of the First Lutheran Church Family,
With joy in my heart and the conviction that God has called me to His service in your midst, I herewith announce my acceptance of the Call which you have extended to me to serve as minister of God’s Word and Sacraments and fellow witness to the Grace of God in Jesus Christ.
Please uphold me and my family in prayer, as well as the saints at Lutheran Church of The Way, while we prepare to come and share in the work of God’s Kingdom with you.
May the Lord who gifts His church prepare us for His work of service that the body of Christ might be built up in faith and knowledge, and that all would come to know the love of Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. May we grow together in such love and truth, that we might welcome Him with joy at His coming.
In the service of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
Rev. James P. Hopkins
