Joy to you in the wonderful Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

“We exist to bring the message and example of Jesus Christ to Greater Boston and beyond.” Yes, this, our mission statement, is ambitious, and yes, we admit we will never accomplish it perfectly. But thanks be to God for nevertheless entrusting us with the keys of His Kingdom through His Holy Word in the Bible, and His precious Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

As Lutheran Christians we believe, teach and confess Christ crucified, risen, and coming again on the Last Day.  We also heed His admonition to love our neighbors as ourselves.  All this we do in an atmosphere of liturgical reverence, a high regard for His gift of music, and even a healthy sense of humor which acknowledges that we are saved by grace, not works!

Please consider your new or expanded participation in our exciting ministries located “deep” downtown in the beautiful and accessible Back Bay area of America’s most walkable city!  The volunteers and staff of First Lutheran stand ready to help you “let your light so shine before others that people will see your good works and give glory to your Father in Heaven” (Matthew 5:16)!

Thanks for reading this; and may God richly bless your day!

Yours for Christ and His Kingdom,
Ingo R. Dutzmann, Senior Pastor

A Pastor’s Job Description

As we go through the pastoral call process this spring, it is good for us to meditate on what exactly we are calling a pastor to come do among us. What is a pastor’s true job description? Our head elder recommends the following excerpt from a sermon on Colossians 1:21-29, entitled “The Job Description”. The sermon was originally preached in […]
