First Lutheran Church was privileged to host Reverend Joe and Deaconess Jennie Asher on March 4. Joe preached the sermon at both services and both Joe and Jennie presented their work to our congregation at the adult Bible study hour.
Joe and Jennie serve the Lord through the LCMS in Germany. Joe serves as the pastor of Kaiserslautern Evangelical Lutheran Church (KELC), which serves the surrounding English-speaking community. He also reaches out to U.S. military personnel living on the military bases in the area.
Jennie organizes the children’s ministry and assists with the ministry to the congregation women. She works with the LCMS partner church in Germany, Selbständige Evangelisch–Lutherische Kirche (SELK), to coordinate GEO missionaries from the U.S. who come to Germany to assist in reaching out to refugees. Jennie is also the interim director of Communications for the LCMS Eurasia region and a facilitator for online missiological studies offered to other LCMS missionaries. Pray for the Ashers as they serve in this region.
