Preparing for Market
Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesdays at 7pm. You can reach the undercroft by going around to the back parking lot of the church and descending the staircase to the kitchen. Knock on the door if it is closed and some one will let you in. You can also join us remotely via our livestream. We are studying the book “The Hammer of God”. We are handing out copies of this book as well the Book of Concord and the Lutheran Service Book for free.
We will open class with Psalm 149 and our catechism lesson which is on the Seventh Commandment. We will pick up reading the second part of the second section “Springtime in March” at page 141. After Pastor Fridfeldt’s failure to reconcile Daniel and Karl-August we will see if the old rector has any better luck. We will close this section with the hymn “All Christians Who Have Been Baptized” (LSB 596)
We will then start on the third part of the second section “Transfiguration Day” (pg. 155-192). We will see how Pastor Fridfeldt grapples with the Law’s demands as he feels the heat of the revival waning in his life. He will come face to face with death and come to grips with his own inability to save himself but rest everything on Christ alone.
As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class. Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
