Marriage at Cana, Jacopo Tintoretto (1561)

Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesdays at 7pm. You can reach the undercroft by going around to the back parking lot of the church and descending the staircase to the kitchen. Knock on the door if it is closed and some one will let you in. You can also join us remotely via our livestream on the FLC YouTube.  Our current study is on the Ecumenical Creeds.  You can find digital copies of the worksheets for the creeds here: Apostles’ and Nicene Creed; Athanasian Creed.  Printed copies are available at the church. We are also handing out copies of the Book of Concord and the Lutheran Service Book for free.

We will open our study with Psalm 20, our catechetical lesson will be on Confession from the Small Catechism. We will continue our study of the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds by discussing Christ’s ascension into heaven.  How Christ took captivity captive and gave gifts to men as He ascended in triumph to the pinnacle of Creation.  We will then sing the hymn “Up Through Endless Ranks of Angels” (LSB 491).

We will then talk about Christ’s reign at the right hand of God.  That a man is now seated on the Throne of Heaven and over sees all things.  Since Christ is on His Throne His will is done and His Church preserved through all ages until the Last Day.  We will close with the hymn “See, the Lord Ascends in Triumph” (LSB 494).

As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class.  Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
