Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. You can reach the undercroft by going around to the back parking lot of the church and descending the staircase to the kitchen. Knock on the door if it is closed and some one will let you in. You can also join us remotely via our livestream. This week we are continuing our study on the Ecumenical Creeds. The worksheet for the Athanasian Creed will be provided, as well as the worksheet we are using for the Apostles’ and Nicene Creed. We are also providing hard copies of the Book of Concord for free, as well as copies of the Lutheran Service Book.
We will open class with Psalm 95 and our catechism lesson will be the Close of the Commandments. We will continue our study on the second major section of the Athanasian Creed discussing the Unity of the Trinity. We will talk about who God is and what His attributes are. We will also stress the oneness of God, even while talking about the three persons in the Godhead. We will close our discussion with singing the hymn “Holy, Holy, Holy” (LSB 507).
We will then move on and discuss the third major section on the Persons of the Trinity. We will talk about the distinction between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. We will also talk about the internal and external economy of the Trinity. We will finish our discussion with the hymn “O Blessed, Holy Trinity” (LSB 876)
As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class. Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
