Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesdays at 7pm. You can reach the undercroft by going around to the back parking lot of the church and descending the staircase to the kitchen. Knock on the door if it is closed and some one will let you in. You can also join us remotely via our livestream. We are studying the book “The Hammer of God”. We are handing out copies of this book as well the Book of Concord and the Lutheran Service Book for free.
We will open class with Psalm 150 and our catechism lesson which is on the Eighth Commandment. We will pick up reading the third part of the second section “Transfiguration Day” on pg. 163. We will see how Pastor Fridfeldt comes face to face with death and come to grips with his own inability to save himself but rest everything on Christ alone. With this new focus on Christ, Fridfeldt gains an even deeper understanding of Baptism and its efficacy for infants and all people regardless of mental faculty. We will close with the hymn “O Morning Star, How Fair and Bright” (LSB 395).
As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class. Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
