Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesdays at 7pm. You can reach the undercroft by going around to the back parking lot of the church and descending the staircase to the kitchen. Knock on the door if it is closed and some one will let you in. You can also join us remotely via our livestream on the FLC YouTube. Our current study is on the Ecumenical Creeds. You can find digital copies of the worksheets for the creeds here: Apostles’ and Nicene Creed; Athanasian Creed. Printed copies are available at the church. We are also handing out copies of the Book of Concord and the Lutheran Service Book for free.
We will open our study with Psalm 21, our catechetical lesson will be on the Sacrament of the Altar from the Small Catechism. We will continue our study of the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds by discussing the Second Coming of Christ. That Christ will come as judge at the end of the world to separate the sheep from the goats. We will then sing the hymn “The Day is Surely Drawing Near” (LSB 508).
We will then close out our discussion of the Second Article of the Creed by talking about the eternal kingdom the Lord has in store for His elect. How we will live together with Christ and all believers for all eternity, living in the presence of God and His great gifts and freedom. We will close with the hymn “The Clouds of Judgment Gather” (LSB 513).
As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class. Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
