Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. You can reach the undercroft by going around to the back parking lot of the church and descending the staircase to the kitchen. Knock on the door if it is closed and some one will let you in. You can also join us remotely via our livestream. This week we will be finishing our study on the Ecumenical Creeds. The worksheet for the Athanasian Creed will be provided, as well as the worksheet we are using for the Apostles’ and Nicene Creed. We are also providing hard copies of the Book of Concord for free, as well as copies of the Lutheran Service Book.
We will open class with Psalm 96 and our catechism lesson will be the First Article of the Apostles’ Creed. We will continue our study on the fourth major section of the Athanasian Creed discussing the Person of Jesus Christ. We will talk about the human and divine natures in Christ as well the unity of person in Jesus. We will then sing the hymn Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence (LSB 621).
We will then finish up our study with the fifth major section dealing with the Work of Jesus Christ. We will talk about Christ’s death, resurrection, ascension, and coming at the Last Day. We will also discuss the judging of good and evil at the Last Day. We will close our study with St. Patrick’s Breastplate (LSB 604).
Our next study will be on the Martin Luther’s 95 Theses, starting on October 18th. As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class. Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
