The Parable of the Ten Virgins (section), Phoebe Anna Traquair (1852-1936)

Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesdays at 8pm following the Divine Service at 7pm. You can also join us remotely via our livestream on the FLC YouTube.  Our current study is on the Ecumenical Creeds.  You can find digital copies of the worksheets for the creeds here: Apostles’ and Nicene Creed; Athanasian Creed.  Printed copies are available at the church. We are also handing out copies of the Book of Concord and the Lutheran Service Book for free.

We will begin our study of the Athanasian Creed with a look at its history.  We will talk about the possible origins of this longest of the three Ecumenical Creeds as well as give and overview.  We will then sing the Te Deum (LSB 223)

We will then dive in to the first section of the Athanasian Creed dealing with the anathemas.  We will discuss what it means to have the right faith, and why it is import that we believe rightly about God.  We will close with the hymn “Lord Keep Us Steadfast in Your Word” (LSB 655).

As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class.  Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
