The Last Judgement, Fra Angelico (1431)
Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesdays at 8pm following Vespers at 7pm. You can also join us remotely via our livestream on the FLC YouTube. Our current study is on the Ecumenical Creeds. You can find digital copies of the worksheets for the creeds here: Apostles’ and Nicene Creed; Athanasian Creed. Printed copies are available at the church. We are also handing out copies of the Book of Concord and the Lutheran Service Book for free.
We will continue our study of the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds by discussing the general resurrection of the dead. That all the dead will be raised to new life, and we will see God with our own eyes. We will then sing the hymn “Lord, Thee I Love with All My Heart” (LSB 708).
Next we will discuss what eternal life will be like. How in eternity we will dwell with God in a new heavens and earth. We will then sing the hymn “Jerusalem the Golden” (LSB 672).
We will finish our discussion of the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds with a discussion of the word “Amen”. How when we confess the creeds, the Amen at the end acts as sign and seal that we believe, teach, and confess all that is with in the creed as certain and true. We will close with the hymn “Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow” (LSB 805)
As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class. Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
