Adam and Eve. Lucas Cranach the Elder (1526)

Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesdays at 7pm.  You can find the undercroft by going around the back to the parking lot of the church and then down the stairs through the kitchen.  Please knock on the door and ring the bell and some one will let you in. You can also join us remotely via our livestream on the FLC YouTube.  We are starting our study on the Augsburg Confession.   As usual we are handing out copies of the Book of Concord and the Lutheran Service Book for free.

Our Psalm for the evening will be Psalm 119:9-16 (Beth) and our Catechism lesson will be on the Close of the Commandments.  We will first consider Article I of the Augsburg Confession on God.  We will talk about who God is and His nature as the divine Trinity.  We will also discuss various Trinitarian heresies and their errors.  We will then sing the the hymn “We All Believe in One True God” (LSB 954).

Next we will cover Article II on Original Sin.  We will talk about the Fall into sin by Adam and Eve and the corruption of our nature that resulted.  Because of this we are dead spiritually and in need of God’s salvation.  We will also discuss how our inclination to sin (concupiscence) is itself sin.  We will close with the hymn “These Are the Holy Ten Commands” (LSB 581).

As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class.  Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
