Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesday evenings at 7pm.  You can reach the undercroft by going around to the back parking lot of the church and descending the staircase to the kitchen.  Knock on the door if it is closed and some one will let you in.  Our current study is Martin Luther’s Large Catechism. If you do not have a hard copy of the Book of Concord we are providing it for free, as well as copies of the Lutheran Service Book.

This week we will recite Psalm 89, read the section on Holy Baptism from the Small Catechism, and sing “To Jordan Came the Christ, Our Lord” (LSB 406).  We will then study Holy Baptism in the Large Catechism.  We will first discuss what makes something a sacrament.  We will then talk about what Baptism is and why it is commanded.  We will also talk about the benefits of Baptism and why Baptism is for all people including infants.

As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class.  Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
