Pentecost1

Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesday evenings at 7pm.  You can reach the undercroft by going around to the back parking lot of the church and descending the staircase to the kitchen.  Knock on the door if it is closed and some one will let you in.  We are studying the The Smalcald Articles in the Book of Concord.  If you do not have a copy of the Book of Concord we are providing them for free.

The Psalm for this week is Psalm 33.  The Small Catechism lesson is the Fifth Commandment.

This week we will read Part III Article V: Baptism.  We will discuss what Baptism is and that we should baptize infants.  We will sing the catechetical hymn for Baptism “To Jordan Came the Christ, Our Load” (LSB 406)

We will then read Part III Article VI: The Sacrament of the Altar.  We will discuss what Holy Communion really is, that both kinds are to be given to the laity, and reject transubstantiation.  We will close this article by singing “Lord Jesus Christ You Have Prepared” (LSB 622).

We will go on to read Part III Article VII: The Keys.  We will discuss what is the Office of the Keys and absolution.  We will close by singing “The Day is Surely Drawing Near” (LSB 508)

As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class.  Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
