Lutheran Essentials is currently meeting remotely due to the COVID19 pandemic. You can join us via our livestream, we will start at 7pm. We are studying Martin Luther’s Large Catechism. As part of the class we are handing out copies of the Book of Concord (which contains the Catechism) and the Lutheran Service Book for free.
We will open our study with Psalm 89, recite the instruction on Holy Baptism from the Small Catechism, and sing the hymn “To Jordan Came the Christ, Our Lord” (LSB 406). We will continue our look at the Sacrament of Holy Baptism in the Large Catechism with paragraph 32. We will talk about who is to receive Baptism, namely all nations, which is to say everyone. We will especially talk Infant Baptism, which makes the youngest among us sons and daughters of God. This is because the creation of faith is the heart of Baptism, which is not an intellectual knowledge of God but rather a trust in the Lord and His Word. We will close with the hymn “All Christians Who Have Been Baptized” (LSB 596).
As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class. Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
