Engraving of the Crucifixion of Christ

Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesdays following Lenten Vespers which start at 7pm.  You can reach the undercroft by going around to the back parking lot of the church and descending the staircase to the kitchen.  Knock on the door if it is closed and some one will let you in.  You can also join us remotely via our livestream, we will start around 7:45-8pm.  We are studying Martin Luther’s Large Catechism.   As part of the class we are handing out copies of the Book of Concord (which contains the Catechism) and the Lutheran Service Book for free.

We will open our study with Psalm 2, recite the Second Article of the Creed from the Small Catechism, and sing verse 2 of the hymn “We All Believe in One True God” (LSB 954).  We will then look at the Second Article in the Large Catechism.  We will talk about the second person of the Trinity, God the Son.  We will discuss how Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is our Lord.  That we have been purchased from Satan and justified by Him by His blood and death on the cross.  As a consequence we owe fealty to Him as our Lord and Redeemer. We will the sing the hymn “O Love, How Deep” (LSB 544).

As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class.  Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
