Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. You can reach the undercroft by going around to the back parking lot of the church and descending the staircase to the kitchen. Knock on the door if it is closed and some one will let you in. Our current study is on the Epitome of the Formula of Concord. If you do not have a copy of the Book of Concord or the Lutheran Service Book we are providing them for free.
This weeks psalm is Psalm 61. The Small Catechism lesson is the Second Article of the Apostle’s Creed.
We will begin the Epitome of the Formula of Concord formally this week with The Summary Content, Rule, and Norm. We will discuss why Scripture is the only rule and norm of all doctrine. We will talk about what Lutherans mean that the Book of Concord is the “normed norm”. We will close this section by singing “I Know My Faith is Founded” (LSB 587).
We will then read Article I: Original Sin. We will talk about the distinction between Original Sin and Human Nature. We will also discuss the depth of the corruption of humanity in the Fall. We will close by singing “All Mankind Fell in Adam’s Fall” (LSB 562).
As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class. Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
