Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on following the Lenten Vespers service which starts at 7pm. You can reach the undercroft by going around to the back parking lot of the church and descending the staircase to the kitchen. Knock on the door if it is closed and some one will let you in. You can also join us remotely via our livestream. This is the last week of our study on “Ceremony and Celebration” by Paul H. D. Lang. We are handing out copies of the book for free as well as copies of the Book of Concord and the Lutheran Service Book.
We will open class with our catechism lesson which is the Introduction to the Lord’s Prayer. We will read Chapter XIX: The Color Use of the Lutheran Liturgy and Miscellaneous Matters (pg. 187-195). We will review the use of colors, flowers, flags, and banners in the church. We will also discuss artwork and other decorations in the church. We will close out the book with singing “Abide with Me” (LSB 878).
Our next study will be on the Epitome of the Formula of Concord which will begin April 3rd. As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class. Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
