The Miracle of the Loves and Fishes, James Tissot (1896)

Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesdays at 8pm following Lenten Vespers at 7pm.  You can find the undercroft by going around the back to the parking lot of the church and then down the stairs through the kitchen.  Please knock on the door and ring the bell and some one will let you in. You can also join us remotely via our livestream on the FLC YouTube.  Our current study is on the Pilgrim’s Progress.   As usual we are handing out the book for free. We are also handing out copies of the Book of Concord and the Lutheran Service Book for free.

We will be reading Chapter Eight (pg. 137-152).  In this chapter Christian meets his new traveling companion Hopeful.  They then debate Mr. By-Ends and his friends about whether it is evil to join the church for the sake of worldly advantage.  They then pass by a Silver Mine which tempts By-Ends and his friends away as well as pass by the pillar of salt that was Lot’s wife.  We will close with the hymn “What is the World to Me” (LSB 730).

As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class.  Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
