Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. You can reach the undercroft by going around to the back parking lot of the church and descending the staircase to the kitchen. Knock on the door if it is closed and some one will let you in. You can also join us remotely via our livestream. Our current study is on the Didache. We will using “The Apostolic Fathers in English Third Edition” by Michael W. Holmes as our text, which we are providing free of charge. We are also providing hard copies of the Book of Concord for free, as well as copies of the Lutheran Service Book.
We will open class with Psalm 103 and our catechism lesson will be on the First Article of the Apostles’ Creed. We will start with reading Didache 8:2-3. We will talk about the Lord’s Prayer. We will also discuss how we ought to pray and how frequently. We will continue with the hymn “Our Father Who From Heaven Above” (LSB 766).
We will then read Didache 9-10. We will talk about the Eucharist. We will also discuss the prayers the Early Church used around the Lord’s Supper. We will close with the hymn “Father, We Thank Thee” (LSB 652).
As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class. Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
