Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. You can reach the undercroft by going around to the back parking lot of the church and descending the staircase to the kitchen. Knock on the door if it is closed and some one will let you in. Our current study is Martin Luther’s Large Catechism. If you do not have a hard copy of the Book of Concord we are providing it for free, as well as copies of the Lutheran Service Book.
This week we will recite Psalm 116, read the section on The Sacrament of the Altar from the Small Catechism, and sing “Jesus Christ, Our Blessed Savior” (LSB 627). We will then finish our study on The Sacrament of the Altar in the Large Catechism starting with paragraph 33. We will discuss who receives the Sacrament worthily and proper Communion practice. We will finish our study of the Large Catechism by singing “Lord, Help Us Ever to Retain” (LSB 865).
As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class. Our next study on the Ecumenical Creeds will begin on July 5th and will follow the week after the special presentation by Dr. Ian Christie-Miller on the copies of Luther’s Catechism in the Baltic on June 28th. Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
