Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesday evenings at 7pm.  You can reach the undercroft by going around to the back parking lot of the church and descending the staircase to the kitchen.  Knock on the door if it is closed and some one will let you in.  Our current study is Martin Luther’s Large Catechism. If you do not have a hard copy of the Book of Concord we are providing it for free, as well as copies of the Lutheran Service Book.

We will recite Psalm 37, read the Seventh Commandment from the Small Catechism, and singing verses 1, 8, 11-12 of “These are the Holy Ten Commands” (LSB 581).  We will then read the Seventh Commandment in the Large Catechism. We will discuss theft, but also other forms of theft than just out right stealing such as being lazy at work, shoddy workmanship, and overcharging for work.  We will also talk about socialism, capitalism, taxation, and other forms of taking possessions that do not belong to one’s self.  We will also discuss how we are to help our neighbor maintain, increase, and defend his possessions as well as be generous with our own. We will close with the hymn “Son of God, Eternal Savior” (LSB 842).

As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class.  Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
