St. John the Baptist pointing to Christ the Lamb of God

Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesdays at 4pm following the Advent Vespers at 3pm. You can also join us remotely via our livestream on the FLC YouTube.  We are finishing up our current study on the Ecumenical Creeds.   You can find digital copies of the worksheets for the creeds here: Apostles’ and Nicene Creed; Athanasian Creed.  Printed copies are available at the church. We are also handing out copies of the Book of Concord and the Lutheran Service Book for free.  Our next study will be the Pilgrim’s Progress, which will start on January 6th at 8pm.

We will finish our study of the Athanasian Creed with a discussion of the work of Christ.  We will talk about what Christ has done to earn our salvation.  We will also talk about the Final Judgement and how God will judge based on works, and how to properly understand this in the light of salvation by grace.  That, in fact, we cannot do any good works aside from faith which is a gift.  We will close with the hymn “I Bind Unto Myself Today” (LSB 604)

As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class.  Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
