John the Baptist in Prison, Woodcut from Martin Luther’s Church Postil
Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesdays at 8pm following the Advent Vespers at 7pm. You can also join us remotely via our livestream on the FLC YouTube. Our current study is on the Ecumenical Creeds. You can find digital copies of the worksheets for the creeds here: Apostles’ and Nicene Creed; Athanasian Creed. Printed copies are available at the church. We are also handing out copies of the Book of Concord and the Lutheran Service Book for free.
We will continue our study of the Athanasian Creed with a discussion of the Persons of Christ. We will talk about the two natures in Christ, namely the divine and the human nature. We will contemplate the incarnation and how Christ is our true mediator between God and man because of the unity of man and God in His Person. We will close with the hymn “Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence” (LSB 621)
As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class. Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
