Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesday evenings immediately following the midweek Advent Evening Prayer which start 7pm. You can reach the undercroft by going around to the back parking lot of the church and descending the staircase to the kitchen. Knock on the door if it is closed and some one will let you in. Our current study is Martin Luther’s Large Catechism. If you do not have a hard copy of the Book of Concord we are providing it for free, as well as copies of the Lutheran Service Book.
We will begin with the Second Commandment from the Small Catechism, and sing verses 1, 3, 11-12 of “These are the Holy Ten Commands” (LSB 581). We will then pick up at paragraph 63 of the Second Commandment in the Large Catechism. We will discuss the great blessings we have in being able to use the Lord’s name properly, as we do when we pray and exercise the Lord’s promises and gifts. We will close by singing “At the Name of Jesus” (LSB 512).
As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class. Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
