Lutheran Essentials meets in the basement of the church following the Wednesday evening Advent service. Our current study is on “The Spirituality of the Cross” by Gene Edward Veith Jr. If you do not have a copy we are providing them for free. We are also continuing to provide the Book of Concord for free.
There is no Psalm for this session as we will be having worship prior to the class. The Small Catechism lesson is the Introduction to the Lord’s Prayer.
This week we will continue the second chapter on the Means of Grace: The Presence of God. Finish covering the section on the Word of God (pg. 44-48) and discuss the power of the Word. We will also read the section on The Bible (pg. 48-53) and discuss the revelation found in Scripture. We will then move on and read The Sacraments: Baptism (pg. 53-61) and discuss what Baptism is and what it does. We will probably not get to the rest of this chapter this week.
