Christ Pantocrator, 6th Century

Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesdays at 7pm. You can reach the undercroft by going around to the back parking lot of the church and descending the staircase to the kitchen. Knock on the door if it is closed and some one will let you in. You can also join us remotely via our livestream on the FLC YouTube.  Our current study is on the Ecumenical Creeds.  You can find digital copies of the worksheets for the creeds here: Apostles’ and Nicene Creed; Athanasian Creed.  Printed copies are available at the church. We are also handing out copies of the Book of Concord and the Lutheran Service Book for free.

We will open our study with Psalm 13, our catechetical lesson will be on the Sixth Petition of the Lord’s Prayer from the Small Catechism.  We will begin our discussion of the Second Article of the Creed introducing the person of Jesus Christ.  We will talk about what it means that Jesus is our Lord.  We will also talk about who Jesus of Nazareth is and why He is called the Christ (e.g. the Messiah).  We will close with the hymn “At the Name of Jesus” (LSB 512).

As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class.  Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
