Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. You can reach the undercroft by going around to the back parking lot of the church and descending the staircase to the kitchen. Knock on the door if it is closed and some one will let you in. We are starting a new study this week is on The Smalcald Articles in the Book of Concord. If you do not have a copy of the Book of Concord we are providing them for free.
The Psalm for this week is Psalm 26. The Small Catechism lesson is the Fourth Part on Holy Baptism.
We will continue our study of the Smalcald Articles by reading Part I: The Awe-Inspiring Articles on Divine Majesty. We will discuss who God is, what the Trinity is, who the person of Christ is, and what the creeds are. We will close out this section by singing “We All Believe in One True God” (LSB 954).
Then we will read Part II: The Articles That Refer to the Office and Work of Jesus Christ: That Is, Our Redemption Article I: The Chief Article. In this we will discuss Justification, how we are made right before God, and how if this article is compromised the whole Church falls. We will close this article with the singing of “Salvation Unto Us Has Come” (LSB 555).
