An Icon of Christ’s Resurrection

Lutheran Essentials is currently meeting remotely due to the COVID pandemic.  You can join us via our livestream, we will start at 7pm.  We are studying Martin Luther’s Large Catechism.   As part of the class we are handing out copies of the Book of Concord (which contains the Catechism) and the Lutheran Service Book for free.

We will open our study Psalm 96, recite the First Petition of the Lord’s Prayer from the Small Catechism, and sing verse 2 of the hymn “Our Father Who From Heaven Above” (LSB 766).  We will look at the First Petition of the Lord’s Prayer in the Large Catechism.  We will talk about how the First Petition is really a fulfillment of the Second Commandment.  We are to keep God’s name holy, and this petition begs God for His aid in doing so, against all heresy, hypocrisy, and evil.  We will close with the hymn “Oh Lord Look Down From Heaven Behold” (TLH 260).

As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class.  Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
