Lutheran Essentials meets in the undercroft of the church on Wednesdays at 7pm. You can find the undercroft by going around the back to the parking lot of the church and then down the stairs through the kitchen. Please knock on the door and ring the bell and some one will let you in. You can also join us remotely via our livestream on the FLC YouTube. We are finishing our current study on the Pilgrim’s Progress, our next study will be on the Augsburg Confession starting on April 28th. As usual we are handing out the book for free. We are also handing out copies of the Book of Concord and the Lutheran Service Book for free.
Our Psalm for the evening will be Psalm 29 and our Catechism lesson will be on the Eighth Commandment. We will the be reading Chapter Eleven (pg. 182-214) of the Pilgrim’s Progress. In this chapter we will meet Flatterer whom the pilgrims were warned about. Christian and Hopeful then meet Atheist who scoffs at the existence of the Celestial City. Next Christian and Hopeful have a discussion about Hopeful’s conversion. Finally they talk with Ignorance again about true faith, and then discuss how Temporary fell away. We will close with the hymn “I Know My Faith Is Founded” (LSB 587).
As always new people are always welcome to this study at any point during the class. Please talk to the Pastor, Elders or Paul Edmon if you have any questions.
