stainedglass300-fullWhat would cause Martin Luther to comment…..

“What else are such proud, arrogant saints doing who are unwilling to read and study the catechism daily?  They think they are much more learned than God Himself with all His saints, angels, prophets, apostles, and all Christians.  God Himself is not ashamed to teach these things daily.  He knows nothing better to teach. (LC 16)”

What does the catechism contain that God Himself would not teach anything else?  Find out in the new study beginning the week of Trinity called Lutheran Essentials. In this class we will look at the confessional documents and books by Lutheran authors.  We will start with the Large Catechism (LC) as both a deeper exploration of the topics covered during your days in confirmation, but also as a guide to help teach the faith for those who have families (both young and old).  We will be using the Large Catechism found in the beautiful new Reader’s Edition of the Book of Concord.  We will have FREE COPIES of the Book of Concord available for you, an essential resource for every Lutheran home. Online references for all the books contained within the Book of Concord can be found online here.

The course has been discussed and approved by the Pastor Dutzmann and the Board of Elders and will be taught by Paul Edmon weekly on Wednesday evenings starting May 29th at 7pm. Please speak with Paul Edmon, Pastor Dutzmann javascript:DeCryptX('2k3q0g2q313g3x2v2|1n0a2p0n0@1g2n3f2/0b1p3v1u3r0n0.1d0o0m') or the Elders mailto:flc-elders@flc-boston.org if you have any questions.

Elder Bill Bussing and Pastor will be participating in the class, and they encourage you to join in this wonderful opportunity to explore the Faith, and be strengthened in it, even as our society seems determined to move in the opposite direction.  Thanks to a kind donor, coffee, tea, and refreshments will be served.
