November 8th was Balint Karosi’s final Sunday as First Lutheran Church’s Minister of Music. Even as we send him to New York with all good wishes and prayers, the process is ongoing to identify someone to fill our organ bench on a permanent basis.
On behalf of the personnel committee, I’m pleased to let you know that First Lutheran Church’s own Cheryl Ryder will serve as Interim Music Coordinator, taking on the responsibility of accompanying our Sunday worship, rehearsing and conducting the choir, scheduling and other efforts related to our music program.
Cheryl will be assisted on some Sundays and during special services by Joyce Painter Rice. Another familiar face around the sanctuary, Joyce has filled in as guest organist, most recently during the summer. In addition, Joyce will take on the task of coordinating next spring’s Bach Birthday celebration.
Please pray for these two very talented musicians as they share their gifts to get us through the period during which the Minister of Music Search Committee will be soliciting and considering candidates for the permanent position.
