Although we long to meet together in person to celebrate the passion and resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, there will be many opportunities for worship and personal devotion offered this week through our website and social media channels. Though we may not be together in person, we are united in the Holy Spirit through Our Lord Jesus, who has promised: behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:20b.

The sermon text, service bulletin, and a link to the livestream will be published on our website 30 minutes before the scheduled service time.

Maundy Thursday 4/9/20 – Divine Service at 6pm

Good Friday 4/10/20 – Divine Service at 9am

Tre Ore service from 12 noon to 3pm*

Tenebrae service at 6pm

Holy Saturday 4/11/20 – Great Vigil of Easter Divine Service at sunset, 7:22pm

*The traditional Tre Ore service consists of 7 readings of the words of Christ on the cross. In between each reading, there is silence for meditation. The livestream will consist of the seven readings and a brief word from Pastor Hopkins – the meditation periods will not be broadcast. The readings will be at 12, 12:30, 1, 1:30, 2, 2:30, and 2:45. The readings will also be published in a devotional format on Good Friday morning (see Lectionary readings, in the Weekday Devotions section below).

Weekday Devotions

Pastor Hopkins has been holding livestreamed noontime catechesis and evening prayer devotions on weekdays during the COVID-19 pandemic. He will be focusing on worship services during Holy Week, so catechesis and devotions are temporarily suspended and will resume after Easter. Likewise, Lutheran Essentials will not meet during Holy Week, but Paul Edmon will continue his Wednesday evening Lutheran Essentials study via his youtube page after Easter.

Lectionary readings for the upcoming Sunday service will continue to be published every Monday morning in a devotional format. In addition, readings for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday will be published in the morning on each of those days for your personal devotion. Previous devotionals are archived here.
