End of the Year Joy in Jesus!
Please be aware that this Sunday, November 9th, will include a new member reception, as well as a sermonic stewardship emphasis in anticipation of Stewardship Sunday and the Harvest Festival on November 16th.
The Text for the Sermon will be Jesus telling the parable of the wise and foolish virgins in Matthew 25.1-13. My theme will be “Keep Your Lamps Burning!” The Hymn of the day will be LW516 “Wake, Awake, for Night is Flying.”
As we approach the end of the Christian Church Year and anticipate the beginning of Advent, which falls on Sunday, November 30th this year, you will note the somber messages about the end of time and the Lord’s ‘Second Coming.’ It is most appropriate for our annual Stewardship Emphasis to occur at such a time, as we renew our efforts “that all might be saved and none would be lost!” The best way to do that is to ‘keep our lamps burning’ with the truth of God’s Word and the eternal assurance of His Sacraments, coupled with a gratefulness born of a desire to say “THANKYOU for all God has done for us in Jesus Christ!
Thank you for all you do to make this a reality at First Lutheran!
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Ingo Dutzmann
