Brazil Mission Society
Highlighting a wonderful officially Recognized Service Organization of the LCMS:
This organization’s mission is to extend the care of Jesus Christ to Brazilians by assisting the Lutheran Church of Brazil. (Igreja Evangelica Luterana do Brasil) The mission projects are focused primarily on helping children in poverty and Lutheran schools. The group also provides a sponsorship program for hundreds of children living in an orphanage in southern Brazil. They sponsor Brazilian pastors and vicars working in missionary locations. Brazil Mission Society also helps congregations and individuals in the US to organize short-term mission trips to Brazil. BMS works hard to keep administrative costs to a minimum. 97% of every dollar given goes directly to mission work.
Pastor Paul Lantz will always have a special place in his heart for this organization. In 1989, Paul became a full time missionary working with the Brazil Mission Society in one of the poorest areas of Brazil. In 2007, this organization was influential in assisting Paul to become the first American to receive his pastoral degree from Seminario Concordia. Pastor Paul continues to serve Brazil Mission Society on their Board of Directors.

About the Brazil Mission Society;
History
The Brazil Mission Society was founded in 1987 by Dr. Bill Thompson and Mr. Norbert Koschmann. Their interest in the ministry of the IELB, especially its programs for Christian education for the children, led Thompson and Koschmann to create an organization through which support could be garnered in the United States to assist this South American ministry. In 2013, Rev. Dr. Ely Prieto became the new President / Executive Director of Brazil Mission Society. He is sure to carry on the tremendous way this organization shares the love and care of Jesus Christ with others! BMS has also established a reputation of confidence that allows individuals, churches, schools, and other interested groups to send help, knowing that their donations will be handled in a responsible manner. Over $1 million has been given to help share Christ with children and families in Brazil. Over 97% of the income goes directly to support mission projects.

To whom it may concern:
My mother would like more information on donating to the Lutheran church in Brazil. Her father and my grandfather, John Neukuckatz, was a missionary in Brazil in the early 1900’s and helped start St Paul Lutheran Church in Porte Allegre. Not sure if I spelled that right ? Anyway does this church still exist and if so how can we find out more about it and how to donate?
Thanks for your time!
Thanks for the note and generosity Eleanor! I trust one of the pastors has been in touch with you about your grandfather’s church.
I’d like to participate in a mission trip
May God bless all the little children.
