In the 2003-2004 academic year, more than 250,000 students attended early childhood centers, elementary schools and high schools of the Lutheran Church-–Missouri Synod. In fact, the LCMS operates the second-largest Christian elementary school system in the United States (after Roman Catholic), plus international schools in Shanghai and Hong Kong (pictured).
