FLC offers Christian education for all ages. Sunday School for children of all ages and adult Bible study takes plan every Sunday between Divine Services at 9:30. FLC also offers Vacation Bible School on Sundays in June
This fall Sunday School children and adults will have the opportunity to study God’s Word using the same curriculum: Concordia Publishing House’s “Growing in Christ,” which focuses each Bible study on Christ’s work for our salvation. As CPH puts it, “‘Growing in Christ’ is a Sunday School curriculum rich in God’s holy Word. Students learn all the major stories of the Old and New Testament and see how God weaves His plan of salvation in Christ through the lives of ordinary men, women, and children.” Ever wondered how the Old Testament relates to Jesus and His saving work on our behalf? Or asked what possible relevance stories about nomadic sheep herders living in the ancient Near East could have for you today? Then be sure to attend one of FLC’s Bible study opportunities each Sunday this fall to explore the presence of Our Lord in the Old Testament and His message for us today. If you have any questions about FLC’s Sunday School and adult Bible study opportunities, please contact Bethany Tanis
Dr. Christopher Boyd Brown of the Boston University School of Theology will be leading a series exploring Lutheran worship and music entitled “The History and Theology of Lutheran Worship and Hymnology” at the First Lutheran Church of Boston at 9:30 am on January 27, February 3, February 10, and February 17.
Dr. Margaret Schatkin of the Boston College Department of Theology will be leading us in a study of the Christology of the early Church Fathers during the 6:00 soup suppers prior to Lenten vespers. If you have ever wondered what the very first Christians really believed about Jesus, then you will not want to miss our annual Lenten suppers! Our supper-time study of what the earliest Christians believed about Jesus starts on February 13 and continues on February 20, February 27, and March 5.
FLC’s Student and Young Adult Fellowship also hosts a Bible study at church on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Mondays of each month at 7:00. Dinner is included! Please contact Karin Denison with any questions.
We are blessed to have a rich stash of books hiding in the undercroft and just waiting to be read. Our library has a variety of Christian books for all ages, from systematic theology to Church history to fiction. Over the course of the year the Board of Education hopes to hold several coffee hours highlighting some of our library’s exciting offerings. Please feel free to brose the library yourself at any time and borrow to your heart’s content. A sign-out book is provided. Please contact Bethany Tanis with any questions.
