The First Lutheran Church of Boston's Brazilian Mission

On Sunday, March 2, 2003, Rev. Augusto Rodolfo Riss was installed as Assistant Pastor of the First Lutheran Church of Boston by Pastor James Keurulainen, President of the New England District. Rev. Dr. Robert Scudieri, LCMS Director of North American Missions, served as preacher.

Pastor Riss's primary focus is the spiritual needs of the Brazilian community in greater Boston. He is working to develop the already vibrant worshiping community to include at least five preaching stations by 2008.

The Brazilian Mission currently offers worship services at four preaching stations -- Boston, Plymouth, Hyannis, and Providence -- bringing the Lord's good news to Portuguese-speaking communities in both Massachusetts and Rhode island. Additional sites are being explored.

Pastor Riss also participates in the worship life and pastoral care of the English-speaking congregation.
